Dr. Lee Ann Barrett has been practicing optometry in Columbia since 1986. After earning a BA in Biology from Central Methodist College, she completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry. Dr. Barrett is a board-certified optometrist who happily sees patients of all ages but specializes in and prefers geriatrics. Her areas of interest include ocular disease, surgical co-management, and contact lenses.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Barrett serves as the Executive Director of the Missouri Optometric Association. In her spare time, she can be found cheering for Mizzou football and traveling—especially when there is a chance to scuba dive or snorkel! Dr. Barrett also serves on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Special Olympics.

Dr. Barrett and her husband, Bob, have one son, Alex, an attorney currently residing in Boston. She visits often!

Dr. Joseph D. Rich moved to Columbia shortly after completing his doctorate at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Growing up and completing his undergraduate work in biology, chemistry, and business management at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, Dr. Rich considers himself a full-fledged Mizzou fan and actively enjoys going to as many games as possible.

Though he is happy to serve patients of all ages, Dr. Rich specializes in pediatrics and contact lenses. He has extensive training in the treatment and prevention of lazy eye, as well as vision rehabilitation, therapy, and sports vision enhancement.

The difficulties accompanying visual strain and excessive ocular allergies are well known to Dr. Rich, who has experienced them firsthand. That personal connection means he really takes pride in his ability to treat and manage those conditions.

Dr. Rich is actively involved in the community with Rotary and other philanthropic organizations and has held many committee chair positions.

Dr. Cary grew up in Omaha, NE and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from Creighton University. After obtaining his degree from Creighton, Dr.
Cary commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Nurse Corps officer. Dr. Cary spent 4
years in the U.S. Army as an emergency room nurse before attending Optometry
school at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. Dr. Cary and his family moved to
Columbia, MO following the completion of his Doctorate of Optometry degree.

Dr. Cary treats patients of all ages. Being an avid contact lens wearer himself, Dr.
Cary specializes in the fitting of contact lenses including myopia management for
pediatric patients. Dr. Cary also treats ocular allergies and disease such as
glaucoma and dry eyes. Dr. Cary is an active member of the American Optometric
Association and Missouri Optometric Association.

Dr. Cary and his wife, Sarah, have three sons, Russell and William (twins) and
Louis. Dr. Cary is a dog lover and has 2 dogs, a standard poodle, and a cockapoo.
In his free time, Dr. Cary is KC Royals baseball fan and enjoys teaching his sons
how to fish.

Born in Missouri, raised in Illinois, Dr. Kramer returned to St. Louis to earn a B.S. degree in chemical Engineering at Washington University. Deciding Chemical Engineering was not his passion, he remembered his fascination with his visits to his Grandpa, an optometrist, as a child. After thinking on this and the amazing complexity of the human eye, he realized this could become a “passion” and that more than anything he wanted to do something to directly help people.

Dr. Kramer went on to earn a Doctor of Optometry degree at University of Missouri – St. Louis and completed a residency with the Veterans Administration in Lexington, Kentucky. He then returned to St. Louis where he taught optometry students at UMSL and commuted to Columbia to work with Dr. Dellande, who had a thriving practice in Columbia.

Dr. Kramer later became a partner with Dr. Dellande and eventually purchased his practice when he retired. Meanwhile, in 1990, Dr. Kramer moved to Columbia to both work with Dr. Dellande and teach at Mason Eye Institute. In 1993, Dr. Dellande retired and his practice became known as Kramer Family Eyecare. In 2022, Kramer Family Eyecare merged with Drs. Rich, Barrett, and Cary as Family Focus Eyecare with the intent to bring better technology, eyewear, and patient care to all of their patients.

Dr. Kramer’s wife Gail and he reside in Columbia and are proud “parents” of two miniature schnauzer puppies, Archie and Allie. He has a love for Celtic music, (but admits his wife is not so fond of the bagpipes!), hiking, travel, and teaching his patients about their eyes.

Dr. Macy Arp is originally from Harrisburg, Missouri. After completing her undergraduate course work at the University of Missouri, Dr. Arp obtained her optometry degree at Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. During her time in optometry school, Dr. Arp was active in Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and completed a mission trip to Roatan, Honduras where the group provided free eye care services. Her other academic achievements include graduating Summa Cum Laude and earning the Clinical Excellence Award for patient care. Dr. Arp joined Family Focus Eyecare in August 2022 to provide both routine and specialty eye care. 

Dr. Arp recently got married to her husband, Charles Roller, in July 2022. In her free time, Dr. Arp enjoys spending time with her dogs and cheering on the Mizzou Tigers! MIZ!

Following in the footsteps of Dr. Rich’s previous boxer pups Ace and Bella-Louise, sweet Nova has been appointed our new Director of Patient Smiles.
Nova can be seen in all offices following Dr. Rich and doing her best to make patients of all ages feel at ease. Her favorite job is greeting new patiets with an enthusiastic wiggle and giving lots of hugs and kisses.

Nova does have her own office, so for those with allergies or general nervousness around dogs, she understands, and will remain away from patients when needed.

Much like Dr. Rich’s previous boxer helpers, Tug has shown a keen eye in making every encounter as best as possible since he first began. Tug can be seen eagerly offering patients toys to toss, bellies to rub, and mouths to take treats from. Definitely our goofiest pup ambassador yet, Tug is here to please.

Tug does have other duties to preform as well, so if you have pet allergies or general nervousness around dogs, Tug can focus on those tasks instead of being in the exam room with you.

Remington joined our office Summer of 2020.  He immediately excelled at greeting patients and alerting us to anything that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.  Because of this, he was quickly promoted to Family Focus Eyecare’s Head of Security.

Though Remington loves to come to the office and greet people, he does most of his duties from Dr. Rich’s home office.  If you are lucky enough to come on a day when he’s making an apperance, he will happily remain in a separate room should you not enjoy large dogs.
